reuse containers

Coffee makers can be a challenge after they’ve been in use for a year or more. Ours is no different…I made a small pot a while back and found the filter had fallen over which allowed the coffee grounds into the pot. I poured the coffee into a pitcher, cleaned out the pot, added a new filter and then poured it back thru the clean filter. This took a bit of time and the coffee had cooled off a bit. So I came up with this little fix-it idea to reduce the time and keep my coffee from getting too cold…

I used a large creamer container, sharp scissors,a hot glue gun and for the holes, I used a wood burner fitted with a bolt ( a nail and hammer could also be used)…

As you can see in the picture, I cut the container at the bend, trimmed down the piece with the cap to accommodate the coffee filter, added a line of hot glue around the bottom and made holes in the cap (I used a bit of sandpaper to get the glue to stay, an emery board would work as well).

Done…now I’m ready for the next time ground have gotten into my coffee!

So, I'm looking at about 200 metal hangers and think, so what do I do with them, other than tossing them into the trash...(no way!)

Ya see,my honey works for a company that has the option of uniforms and evidently, the uniform company does'nt require the hangers to be returned. So, we have a pile of them!
Since we often need hooks for stuff like hanging coats, sweaters, brooms, mops, etc...I set out to use the hangers.
First, I was determined to make the hook seem like something I may have purchased so I painted them. But I soon found out that paint peals off...So, I got out the Modge Podge (I love that stuff!) and coated the hanger first, then painted, then coated it again and TADA..a store-bought-looking hook!....Need a hook? I'll send ya the details...

While experimenting one day I found this cute idea...make your own Stick ums for windows or just about anywhere...there easy, anyone can make them and use any design you like...
Let me know if you wanna make'em...

I use this coat hanger hook in our bedroom, over the door to hang our robes...I've used it for heavy coats and only gets out of shape if you pull hard on it! It's amazing! It takes a little while to get the hang of the bending and shaping but its worth while if you need a hook somewhere!

Metal hangers are so versitile... Got some clothes in your closet that have skinny straps that keep falling off the hanger? Loose belts or ties? This is what I do...take each end and fold them upward, that will hold the straps on the hanger, I do this for belts,hats,gloves,etc...

I recently watched an infomercial about hangers...it reminded me about the time I did the same thing with regular hangers and found it works pretty well and most folks have metal hangers so I thought I would share the idea...here's a picture to show what I mean...Just straighten out a large size hanger leaving the hook, take a pair of plyers and bend to make 4-5 small rings ,bend the other end for the hook ...the end that will hold the row should be longer to wrap around the closet pole for strength...
